About the Journal
Founded in 1964 by Dr. S. R. Ranganathan as 'Library Science with a Slant to Documentation,' the journal completed 50 years of continuous publication in 2013. Now titled the Journal of Information and Knowledge, it is a refereed journal ranked among the top five LIS journals in India. The journal covers all aspects of information management and library science, including all those areas of activities that focus on the nature, properties, impact, use and users of information including legal and ethical aspects, the related media, tools and technologies; Bringing structure and order to recorded information; Search and Retrieval of information; Information Products and Services; Information systems and institutions (not limited to but including libraries and other memory institutions, knowledge management systems; MIS; Decision-Support Systems); information policy (including telecom and IT policy) issues; Information Architecture; Education for the information professions
Information Science is indeed a very broad area with no clearly defined boundaries but impacts every sphere of human activity. The journal welcomes original research and reviews papers covering topics of interest in the above-mentioned areas of information science and knowledge management. The Editors welcome manuscripts on aspects of information science theory, information policy, use and application of information. Evaluative case studies by practitioners as also evaluative studies of specific tools and relevant technologies in the information field in so far as they contribute to advance thinking in the field and/or help design more effective tools, information systems/information transfer mechanisms are also welcome.
The Journal of Information and Knowledge is published bimonthly, with issues in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
