Evolutionary Trends in the Information Industry:Some Preliminary Observations

Today, the information sector is a huge industrial consortium involving many interfacing multibillion dollar industries. Studies on the evolution of these industrial congregates may be helpful in developing economic notions about the future. Four main industrial congregates are recognized in the information sector, viz., Information gathering industry, Information processing industry, Information evaluation industry, and Information selling industry.
