As volume of publications grows, and library budgets are not increased, the librarian requires more information to accomplish his tasks. Here, the use of computers comes in by providing accurate, timely and exhaustive information (at the touch of a computer key) to accomplish his tasks. This paper stresses the importance of three major areas of applications: Management Information System (MIS); Library Management Information from computer-based system, and Decision Support System (DSS), It outlines the benefits libraries can derive from using MIS. Concluding, the paper advocates the need for training of MIS managers and their employment in libraries. It further advises Nigerian libraries to put their acts together and actualise Management Information System(MIS) operations in their libraries, otherwise they may be permanently saddled with only second class technology.Downloads
