In India, planning for electrical energy for the five-year plans is done at the government level based on projections of planned economic growth. Input data are obtained from States and Ministries as well as from recommendations of expert committees. In this paper, recommendations have been made for overcoming some of the problems encountered in planning and implementation. Some areas of mutual Indo-US Co-operation have been indicated.Downloads
