Preparation of Trend Report with Particular Reference to DRTC Training

Abstract

Trend report is of considerable use to specialists. Heretofore, the subject specialist prepared trend reports on his specific field of interest on the basis of documents furnished by the library. A properly trained documentalist can now relieve him of such work. Attributes of subject, reader's requirement, and presentation in the text of a document to be considered in the preparation of a trend report are enumerated. The subjects of the course, methods of teaching adopted, and the practical experience provided in the Documentation Course of the Documentation Research and Training Centre, Bangalore, can equip the documentalist to prepare trend reports on specific subjects useful to subject specialists.
