Descriptors and their Role in Information Retrieval

A descriptor is an unit to surrogate the context of an idea in the centre of text. It does implicitly and partly explicitly methods of generating descriptors from the text, their correlation to classification schemes, their ability as substantive and linking devices in providing cues to individual users of information retrieval are discussed. It is also pointed out that the variety of controlling devices that can be operated in modulating Descriptors 10 moderate roles in information retrieval.Downloads
