Points out the role of R&D in the industrial development and touches upon the developmental aspects of indigenous efforts for R&D in the Indian industry. Discusses the advantage of grant of patent system over the reward system. Highlights the provision made in the Indian Patents Act (1970) for promoting R&D. Suggests that the valuable information available in patent documents collection available in the patent offices in India may be utilized in industrial R&D for industrial development.Downloads
