Gives brief account of personal names with special reference to Indian names and their characteristics. Identifies various structural patterns of Indian musicians' names as in usage. Discusses the general principle governing choice of entry clement in personal names and asserts that for Indian names, the dichotomic approach by forename and surname depending upon the situation is not ideal. Based on the recall pattern, suggests a unified rule for processing Indian musicians' names. Draws attention to the problem of homonyms and suggests ways to resolve them.Downloads
