Abstract

This study reveals coffee planters' reading habits and practice in Karnataka State. The study revealed that reading books are for gaining knowledge. However, some gadgets, such as, mobile, laptop and TV are killing too much time of coffee planters. It is, therefore, suggested that there should be some check on the usage of these resources, so that valuable time of the coffee planters should not get wasted. Instead they may devote more time on reading to enhance their knowledge base in this age of competition. Majority of the coffee planters opined that reading habits can be improved by hearing to the talk of eminent personalities/guest lectures and by the encouragement of family members and through orientation programme conducted by library professionals.
