In a knowledge based economy, Knowledge Management (KM) activities are significant in University Libraries for their competitiveness and self sustainability. This paper takes a look at the present status of University Libraries and brings out some of the KM practices followed in the libraries of major technology enterprises like Hewlett Packard (HP) and Microsoft. It asserts the need of Communities of Practice (CoP) in the libraries of universities, as a tool of knowledge creation process for the academic knowledge management strategy.Downloads
