Bibliometric Study of Literature on Ethiopian Librarianship 1944-1992

Librarianship literature on Ethiopia comprises of 240 items produced between 1944 and 1991. Growth pattern, authorship and author productivity trends and the formats of the literature have been described and discussed. Analyses of this literature show that more than 67 percent of the literature was produced between 1967 and 1978; about 30 percent are unauthored items and 92 per cent of the authored items are single authored items; 78 authors are responsible to produce 167 items which one an average is about 2.2 items per author. Joumal articles and reports being almost equal in number dominated the literature. Most of jounal items are descriptive in nature.Downloads
