Abstract

In view of the increasing number of documents and the changing needs of society, library education needs to be re-oriented. Students should be made more aware of the potential of the profession and there should be a departure from the traditional theoretical methods to more realistic clinical methods, tutorial and project work. Research should be a recurrent feature and it is desirable to review not only the contents but the structure and duration of the course.
