Abstract

The term consortium is a form of Co-operation among groups with a common purpose. This article highlights the meaning, resources for forming consortia, problems, benefits, objectives, types of consortium for e-journals, growth in India and at international level, HELINET consortium, advantages and disadvantages. The Libraries join together to minimize the cost of acquisition and to maintain e-resources by maximizing their utilization through consortia.
