Abstract

Information is the prime mover of an information society. It is all pervasive and omnipotent. An attempt is made in this paper to highlight the importance of information in the information society; its relation with data, knowledge and wisdom; its importance in communication, social and economic development. The properties and the scope of information are also defined.
