Presents a very broad overview of some theoretical approaches to automatic classification and indexing. Automatic analysis, classification procedures, meaning and types of automatic classification, methods of construction, and areas of application are some of the ideas touched. Much remains to be done. Advances in information technology leading to the availability of cheap computing power however will perhaps speed up the process of research in automatic classification and indexing.Downloads
